Military Registrations

Military participants receive discounted registration fees for "recreational" soccer, which includes teams other than the Fire Club and Developmental League.  To qualify as a military participant and receive the discounted registration fee, military registrants must be registered BOTH through the AHFSH online registration program AND through Child and Youth Services ("CYS").  AHFSH values both the participation of its military members and our relationship with CYS; as such, we encourage all eligible military participants to register as such.

Registration with CYS, which also affords military personnel the opportunity to participate in a wide range of other services, requires that your child have a current sports physical examination.   There is currently no fee associated with CYS registration as in years past.  Additional information regarding CYS services may be found on the Fort Sam Houston MWR website (on the "Soldier & Family Services" page).  Information regarding CYS registration may be found under the FAQ section (on the "Helpful Links" page) of the Fort Sam Houston MWR website; that FAQ is also available on the pdf of that page, below.  If you have any additional questions regarding CYS benefits or registration, please call Mingo Ramos at 221-5519, or email him at domingo.ramos@us.army.mil.

Individuals who register with AHFSH as military participants (and receive a discounted registration fee) but do not register with CYS will be required to pay the civilian registration fee once CYS confirms that such individuals are not registered through CYS.

Spring - The season typically begins in late February for U5-U10 and Developmental League U9-U10, early March for D2/SII U11-U14 and early April for D2/SII U15-U18.  The season is typically 8 games long for D4 and the Developmental League, and 8 games long for upper-age teams.  Make-up games for rain outs may extend the season, and games are not generally played on the weekend before and/or after Spring Break.

When does the Spring 2009 season start?

Games for U-5 to U-10 recreational players are anticipated to begin on Saturday, February 28th.  Schedules will be posted on the Schedules page as soon as they have been prepared by our Scheduler.

Games for Developmental League (formerly known as the "Academy League") league teams, U-11 and older recreational teams and competitive ("Fire") teams will begin when scheduled by our parent organization, AAYSA.  Information regarding the beginning of the season for these teams will be available through your coach, our Director of Training or the appropriate age-group commissioner.

When will I be contacted by a coach regarding practices?

Recreational players will be contacted by coaches following distribution of rosters at the coaches meeting, which is scheduled for Wednesday, February 11th at 7 pm.  If you are not contacted by a coach soon after this date, you may contact your age group commissioner, who should be able to provide you with contact information for your coach.

Developmental League ("Fire Junior") and Fire players begin training with the professional trainers in August (Fall 2008) and late January (Spring 2009).  For information regarding the training schedule, please contact our Director of Training.
