About AHFSH

The Alamo Heights - Fort Sam Houston (AHFSH) youth soccer league was begun in the late 1970's with a goal of providing children within the Alamo Heights and Fort Sam Houston communities the opportunity to play soccer. Since its inception, AHFSH has always welcomed players who are interested in developing their skills, as well as an appreciation for and understanding of the game of soccer.

AHFSH welcomes players from Under-5 through Under-18 who are interested in developing age-appropriate individual and team skills, positive attitudes and good sportsmanship. The league fields "recreational", Developmental league and "competitive" teams, but our goal is to provide a league where children have fun, regardless of the level of play in which they may choose to participate.

AHFSH offers "recreational" soccer for players beginning at the Under-5 age group. To determine your child's appropriate age group, please check the "Age Level Chart" page on the left of this Home page. For players in the Under-9 and Under-10 age groups, and in additional to recreational soccer, AHFSH offers players the opportunity to participate in the "Recreational Academy" on one of our Fire Jr. teams. Our Fire Jr. teams practice twice per week with an assigned trainer from our staff of professional trainers and play against other Recreational Academy teams in the San Antonio area. Additional information regarding our Fire Jr teams is available on the "Recreational Academy" page or through our Director of Training, Steve Jennings, at 210.725.2283.

Beginning at the Under-11 age group, and in addition to recreational soccer, players are eligible to participate on a "competitive" team. Within AHFSH, all such competitive teams are referred to as "Fire" teams and play at various competitive levels (Division 2, Super 2 and Division 1) against other such teams in the South Texas area. Participation on a Fire team is offered following a tryout, and Fire teams train twice per week with a designated trainer from our staff of professional trainers.

Additional information regarding our Fire teams is available on the "Fire Club" page or through our Director of Training, Steve Jennings, at 210.725.2283.
